A Poem Inspired by International Women's Day

I don't exist for your amusement
I'm not an object or a prize
I don't exist for expectations
built from societal lies
I don't exist just to be stifled
Hear the power in my voice
I don't exist for them to take away my right to have a choice

I exist just like you exist, and with this truth I stand
The existence of a woman should be equal to a man
And even if conflicted by my own genetic strands
I do exist to live my life exactly as I am
